Multiple modes of communicate drive me crazy. Sometimes I don’t know whether to text someone, tweet at them, or write on their Facebook wall. As I turn on my computer I think, “Should I check my Facebook or my Rowan Email first?” For some of my classes I am even posting blogs on Rowan’s Blackboard. I can’t keep up! I have so many options where I can write and share my ideas that I feel overwhelmed at times. Is this a bad thing? Sometimes I think it is. Although there are so many options, I've found different modes of communicate shape my writing in different ways. On Twitter my writing has to be short and simple, as it cannot exceed the 140 character limit. I put more thoughts into my tweets then if I were to write on a blog, which doesn’t have a character limit. If I wanted to have a more private conversation I would text the other person. Although if I text the person it would take me longer to type what I was trying to say. That makes me wonder, “Should I just send the person a Facebook message instead?” The opportunities are endless! With all these options social interactions are occurring less and less. I no longer have to call my best friend to find out where she is; instead I check my timeline of tweets.
